What happens after you download

  • Open the .dmg and drag Ikuna into your Applications folder. Eject the disk image.
  • Launch Ikuna from Applications or Spotlight.
  • macOS will ask for Accessibility permission — required for Ikuna to see window positions. It's used on-device only.
  • Ikuna guides you through saving your first context in about 60 seconds.
  • The free plan is active immediately. To upgrade to Pro, use the in-app upgrade button or the pricing section.

Verify the download (optional)

Ikuna is code-signed and notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper accepts it without warnings once it's in Applications. Release notes for every version live at ikuna.app/releases.

The free plan gives you up to 4 contexts with no time limit and no credit card. Same installer, same app — Pro just unlocks unlimited contexts, the full Focus Intelligence dashboard, Focus Shield, Device Link, and Rituals.

Trouble downloading?

  • Download stalls: try a different network. Most issues are local ISP or captive-portal problems.
  • Gatekeeper blocks the app: right-click Ikuna in Applications → Open → Open in the confirmation dialog. Only needed on first launch, and only if macOS quarantined the file.
  • macOS 12 or earlier: not supported. Ikuna requires macOS 13+ for the window APIs it depends on.
  • Bug or install issue: report it on the feedback board — I read and reply to everything myself.

What Ikuna does, in one paragraph

Ikuna is a focus intelligence and context manager for macOS. It saves your project environments — apps, browser tabs (Safari, Firefox, Opera, Chromium), window layouts, Focus Shield settings — into named contexts, and rebuilds any of them in under three seconds. The Focus Intelligence dashboard then reveals how your attention is actually being spent, so you can spot where focus is at its best and where context-switching is quietly eating your day.
