Focus Intelligence for macOS

See where your focus actually went.

Ikuna is a focus tracker for Mac built around the way knowledge work really happens: across projects, apps, windows, tabs, meetings, and interruptions.

It shows when you did deep work, when attention broke, how often you switched context, and which work setups helped you stay with the task.

Free plan available. No card required. macOS 13+.

Screen Time tells you how long. Ikuna shows what happened to your work.

Three hours in a code editor could be one clean stretch of work or twenty short visits broken up by Slack, email, and browser tabs. Those are very different days.

Questions Ikuna can answer

How many times did I switch context? When was my longest uninterrupted stretch? Which Ikuna gave me the most deep-work time? Was my afternoon less focused, or did it only feel that way? Is this a bad day or a pattern?

Ikuna is not an employee tracker and it does not turn a person into one productivity score. It is a private view for the person doing the work.

01

Context switches

See how often your attention moved from one work context to another, and where fragmentation started.

02

Deep-work sessions

See how much focused work happened, when it happened, and which Ikuna helped you stay with the task.

03

Attention span

See how long you tend to stay with work before attention moves. Look for a pattern, not a score.

04

Focus and energy flow

See how the shape of your work changes over a day or week, then place demanding work where focus tends to hold.

05

Work, breaks, apps, and categories

Look past raw screen time. See active work, breaks, and what made up the day.

The workspace is part of the data

Each Ikuna is a complete work context: apps, tabs, windows, layouts, Focus Mode, and optional audio or visual cues. When you switch from Writing to Client Work, Ikuna knows the intended context as well as the activity around it.

Save and restore is the mechanism. Focus Intelligence is what you learn from using it.

Start with one honest question

Where did my focus break today?

Look at the timeline. Check the switches around that point. Compare the Ikuna you were using. Change one thing tomorrow: move Slack out of the workspace, turn on Focus Shield, or protect the hour where attention is usually strongest.

The dashboard is there to help you run a small experiment, not grade your day.

Native on Mac. Activity stays local.

Ikuna sees app activity locally on your Mac so it can build your private timeline and focus metrics. BRNSFT never receives app identity. Only limited, non-identifying product telemetry leaves the device.

Free first. Pro when you want the deeper layer.

FAQ

Is Ikuna a screen-time app for Mac?

It covers some of the same ground, but it is built for project-based work. Screen-time totals show how long an app was open. Ikuna connects activity, deep work, breaks, and context switches to the workspaces you intentionally use.

Do I need to start a timer?

No. Ikuna builds the dashboard from activity on your Mac and your Ikuna sessions without asking you to run a separate timer.

Is Focus Intelligence free?

The free plan includes the basic dashboard, context-switch analytics, and deep-work analytics. Pro adds the deeper Focus Intelligence views.

Is this for managers?

No. It is a personal view for the person doing the work, not an employee-ranking or surveillance dashboard.
